Kifah Mahmoud

Freelance Cartoonist and Illustrator

Kifah Mahmoud was born in Basra (Iraq) in 1962. He studied Art from 1980 to 1985 at the Art Academy of Baghdad.

In 1984 he drew satirical cartoons, caricatures and illustrations for Alif-Ba Magazine. Since 1988 he has been the editorial cartoonist for Al Jumhuriya Daily Newspaper.

Between 1988 and 1992 he worked for Al Muharer Weekly Newspaper in Paris.

From 1991 to 1994 he moved to Amman (Jordan) and worked for the weekly Newspapers Shihan, Al Ahaly and for Al Dustour Daily Newspaper in addition to other Weeklies.

Besides his Newspaper work he has been active in painting, poster designing, drawing and book illustrating. Since 1994 he lives in Amsterdam (Holland) and still occasionally works as a cartoonist.
